The decision between Color E-Ink and Color ChLCD is based on your specific use case, the desired content dynamics, and the site conditions.
Both technologies only require energy when the image changes. Static content remains visible without power. This enables standalone battery or solar operation at stops without a grid connection.
E-Ink offers minimal energy consumption for static content, while ChLCD combines bistable efficiency with faster image changes and a higher update frequency. ChLCD formats up to 32 inches are already possible today, with 55 inches planned for the future.
Both technologies are optimized for visibility in direct sunlight. At the trade fair, we will show you identical layouts for a direct comparison of text, colors, and contrast.
Both display technologies are centrally controlled via the Funkwerk Mobility Platform. This means the displays are not isolated devices, but integrated elements of a shared information and platform logic.
